ABOUT US

History

Kalye was born during one of the strangest moments in New York City’s history.

In March 2020, the city that never sleeps suddenly fell silent. Broadway lights still glowed, but the streets were empty. Yet every night at 7 PM, New Yorkers came out — clapping, cheering, banging pots and pans — reminding each other that even in darkness, this city refuses to lose its spirit.

Why We Do....

What We Do?

That resilience inspired us. As we searched for purpose in a world turned upside down, we stepped back into the city—listening to jazz in church courtyards, wandering through museums, eating at hole-in-the-wall spots, and meeting friends we still can’t believe we met.

Those moments reminded us of what makes New York magical: community, creativity, and the way food brings people together. Somewhere between late-night conversations and shared meals, the idea for Kalye took shape—a way to give back, celebrate the culture that raised us, share the soulful flavors of the Philippines, and create a welcoming space for art, music, and community.

Kalye is our blend of Filipino food, Filipino warmth, and New York’s creative energy—a place to gather, eat, laugh, and feel at home, just as we did when the city came back to life.

At Kalye, every table celebrates Filipino life, flavor, and culture.

Kalye means “street” in Tagalog, and our food and space capture that bold, alive, flavorful Filipino spirit, apparent in every street of Manila. We keep things authentic, rooted in tradition, and full of the warmth and energy that define Filipino hospitality.

Our dishes taste like home — childhood favorites, family dinners, and holidays filled with laughter. Crispy sisig, soulful sinigang, lumpia, pancit, BBQ, ube desserts — all served with handcrafted cocktails, good music, and a celebratory vibe.

But Kalye is more than great food. It’s a place where everyone — Filipino or not — is welcomed like family. Come solo for a late-night bite, bring your barkada for a Boodle Fight Feast, or celebrate something special. Whoever you are, there’s a seat for you here.

We believe food connects: to roots, to memories, and to each other. Whether it’s a cozy dinner or a full-blown Filipino-style revelry, Kalye is here for every moment you deserve.
